This one was the best yet. I suddenly have the urge to open a donut shop in the mountains of NC so that I can give out hot chocolate when it snows :)

It is always a joy to read a book set in my home state. Sometimes you can close your eyes and feel like you are in April Springs. Suzanne is once again embroiled in a murder in which her ex is the prime suspect. The snowstorm creates lots of girl time for Suzanne, her mom and Grace. And what the heck is wrong with Jake?! Oh, and yummy recipes. 3.5 stars

Not bad, not brilliant. Even for a cozy mystery, I feel like it has a remarkably small cast of characters, and most of the action seems to take place in a three-block area of a miniscule North Carolina town. On the other hand, it has a reasonably likeable (if surprisingly socially isolated) heroine, and the question of who killed the victim - in broad daylight, no less - had several equally viable answers.

Even though this is the third volume, and I haven't read the first two, I was able to follow the characters' issues with ease - a benefit of the non-complex situations, I suppose.

Haven't tried any of the recipes yet, though a couple of them look interesting and I hope I remember to copy them down before I return this to the library.

Finally, a cozy mystery with decent characters and a good plot! I liked that the donut shop was present but not the main focal point of the series. I also really like that I was able to jump in on the third book in the series and know what is going on, especially since I had bought the third in the series by accident.

I knew the killer relatively early, but there was enough distraction that it wasn't an issue. I really liked Suzanne and Grace. My only wish was that the book was a tad longer to end the crazy rush to the last bit of the book. Even a quick interlude to the dinner table would have been nice.

This series is really growing on me. 3rd book and I'm liking Suzanne Hart and her friends more and more. Wish I have a neighborhood donut shop like Suzanne's, although my waistline might not thank me.

Third in the series and once again a pleasure. An easy read with a cast of charchter you will sure to enjoy. Well written comfort book. The truth is that I wish I could have a donut while reading, but I am on a diet so I enjoyed the charachters that ate Suzanne's master donuts.

I wasn't much of a fan of the first two, but this one was a bit better. Something about the characters though; I have a hard time really caring about them, as they all feel a bit flat to me. Perhaps a bit formal and earnest to me for a cozy mystery. I probably wouldn't have continued with this series at all except that I bought this one and the next one at closeout prices and this one was a fit for a reading challenge. However, it's a good mystery with lots of suspects and I didn't guess the murderer until the big reveal. I'd recommend these for someone who wants a bit of light reading and might be between favourites.
