I just couldn’t get into this story. Maybe it was the colonial and racist language from the start, or just that it was a bit slow, I don’t know. I also don’t know if Paver is self-aware of the colonial stuff, and she was emphasising the views of the characters as wrong, but it wasn’t clear enough for me.

I went back and forth on how much I liked this, but the ending was really tight and brought it all together well. The last section was terrifying.
