I really liked the author’s take on what it means to be human and time as a construct of humanity. This book leaves you with some unanswered questions, but it’s the feeling the book leaves you with that feels more important. The format and voice the author writes in compels you to be just as curious as the main character, and it definitely gives you some interesting topics to think about.

this was brilliant despite me hating the feelings it evoked in me. i guess that was the whole point but i just want to say don‘t read this before bed if you‘re prone to be too anxious to fall asleep. the existential dread parts of this book put me through was not pleasant.
in a paradox way i also found it to be hopeful somehow, at least when it comes to how deeply humanity is rooted within us.
although i would have loved a handmade-type appendix i think it wrapped up nicely and i enjoyed the irony of her dying because of the thing that made her „different“

I am the sterile offspring of a race about which I know nothing, not even whether it has become extinct. Perhaps, somewhere, humanity is flourishing under the stars, unaware that a daughter of its blood is ending her days in silence.

Such a frustrating book! Not a single question is answered and we're left wondering from start to finish. And yet the bleakness of everything translates into a real affection for the characters, even the minor ones. These women were left abandoned to a world which was unable nor willing enough to care for them, and even they knew from the very start that they never stood a chance against it.
