Some of the Aubrey Rules to Live By:

*If I’m going to indulge in French fries, I must add extra time to the treadmill the next day.
*Always keep your work and private life separate.
*Being open to new experiences will never involve eating kale.
*Never, ever date a professional athlete.

For Chicago social media professional Aubrey Paige, the rules are everything. So much so that Aubrey has painstakingly written her rules for living into a polka-dot Kate Spade notebook that she carries with her at all times. It’s her personal guidebook to living her life. These rules are the Holy Grail—ones never to be broken. They guide her actions for everything, from dealing with workplace drama to finding a great guy to date. After all, these are her own rules, built from her life experiences and observations. So they have to be perfect, right?

Or are they?

Because when Aubrey meets a cute Canadian, she suddenly finds her rules being tested and challenged in ways she never dreamed possible. Beckett Riley is the shy, quiet, determined captain of the Chicago Buffaloes, a hockey team on the verge of turning the corner to becoming a winning organization. He’s Aubrey's opposite, with so many qualities that Aubrey had listed as ones she’d never want in a man.

Yet Aubrey finds herself drawn to Beckett in ways she’s never known. And when she unexpectedly finds herself working with Beckett, she wonders if rules are meant to be broken after all . . .

Firstly thank you to Aven for not only providing me with a copy of this book for review but for letting me be part of the Beta Baes. I absolutely love Aven's work and I knew from the very first chapter that this would be a 5* book.

Aubrey is crazy. There is no other word for her. Good crazy though. She has this mass of red curls, LOVES fries and a strict rule book for her life. Her rules have always stopped her from getting into trouble and heartbreak that is until she meets a certain Beckett Riley.

Beckett is the captain of the Chicago Buffaloes Ice Hockey Team. Beckett is shy and quiet off the ice but if your part of his team he will fight till the death for you. Beckett thinks he's a dork, trust me he's far from it, but he's pretty insecure about it. He doesn't think that anyone could love him for who he is.

I adore Beckett and Aubrey and think they make such a great couple. Aubrey brings Beckett out of himself helps him to be less serious all the time and Beckett makes Aubrey realise that sometimes you have to break a few rules.

This story has a fresh vibe about it that you notice the minute you read the opening chapter.  There's something about it that you just become so addicted to. I was actually quite sad when it finished.

Aven is an excellent writer and I honestly can't wait to share more of her work with you.

Aubrey's insecurities grated on me. If she talked about her love of fries and need to work them off one more time ...

Things I love about this book: everything. Between the likable Aubrey and the swoon-worthy Beckett this book has everything needed for a fun read. I love the way Aven Ellis manages to intertwine characters from her other hockey series. Seriously, so good. I need to find a way to get on Aven's list of "readers to send early copies of books to" because I can't wait for the next book! (Seriously though, Aven, hook a sister up.)

It seems like lately I've been in a hockey hero reading mood. I found this author with her other set of hockey boys, the Dallas Demons. Now we're in Chicago with the Buffaloes. I like Aubrey from the start and Beckett is nothing like you'd think a professional hockey player would be.

Aubrey is late for an interview for a social media firm and everything that could go wrong is going wrong. She's perfect for the job, she is on everything! The only thing that went right it seems is falling at the feet of Beckett Riley, not that she knew who he was. He helped her out by making sure she got to the interview on time. They really seemed to hit it off but dating or being involved with an athlete was against her rules. She has quite a few rules, they keep her life structured. Beckett messes with the order of all of that. She's not so sure she's upset with that after a while.

Beckett is a hockey player and he loves the game but he doesn't do well with social media. He doesn't twitter, Facebook or Instagram. He just doesn't see the point and it's not fun for him. Meeting Aubrey he's intrigued by her. She posts pictures of her coffee, she checks into places, she's all about social media. He needed a reason to spend more time with her and when he sees her at his meeting with the very firm that Aubrey now works he stipulates that he wants to work only with her.

These two were just adorable together. Being adults but the way they acted when it came to their relationship was almost juvenile, but not in a bad way. At one point it was a check yes or no situation. I mean their story was sugar sweet. Not that they didn't have some bumps, everyone does! It was the journey that made the relationship worth the bumps. I loved this book and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one due out this year. As always leave the author love in the form of a review, they deserve it!!

I rate the books I read all the time, but I don't leave reviews very often. But I just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially the characters. It was a hard book for me to put down... Not that I even attempted to do so...

It's a light hearted book that just leaves a smile on your face because everything works out the way it should and is perfect!

I can't wait to read more of her books and I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Absolutely Love Captain Smart Ass and Aubrey

Aubrey lives her life by a set of rules. One of the most important of those rules is never date an athlete. So what happens when Aubrey trips in an elevator, loses her car keys and runs into Beckett, the captain of the hockey? An amazing love story!

It is so easy to fall in love with Aven's characters! I found myself not wanting this book to end. Aubrey and Beckett are so cute, but not in that sickingly sweet, I really hate them because they're so cute way. I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series!!!
