3 days later and I'm still so upset by this ending. If there ends up being a third book I'll consider revising this rating. There is no conclusion. If you think that this book will wrap up the loose ends then you are in for some disappointment. The first book had a better wrap up than this one. I thought I was in the middle of the book until I turned the page and was in the acknowledgements. I thought it was a mistake and then popped over here and several reviews mentioned it so I knew it wasn't my copy. I don't mind leaving things open but this. This is intolerable. Does River stop using his glow? Is Brodie really evil? Does he end up going crazy and killing them all? Is there any resolution for our characters? Well not in this book, folks!

I wanted to like this book so bad. But I hated how it started basically right where it ended. And we really got no answers... it felt like complete filler. Could you be saved from the glow? What is Nealy’s power? Where did the powers come from? Does she love Nealy or River? (Very confused about this, and not sure if she doesn’t know herself, or if the twisty, poetic writing makes it unclear.) Basically, with this book, I can’t tell how much of the ambiguity is intentional and how much is poor writing.
:( disappointed. I would be less disappointed if I knew there was a 3rd to answer all my questions, but at this moment, there’s not. So I’m just disappointed. And I liked the first one so much!!!

i loved everything about Between the Spark and the Burn. the plot was entrancing and the writing was absolutely stunning. however, there were so many unnecessary details, which was to be expected. i mean, come on, a fucking sea king? really?

in the end, it was still a fun read and i would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves strange, possibly unnecessary plot twists.

Oh, I loved this book! This was an amazing conclusion to an amazing duology. I feel so connected with these characters, and the story was absolutely enthralling! This book meets my aesthetic so perfectly! I loved it so much!

There was some love triangle shit, which I never enjoy and totally saw coming. Violet cuddles with River and Neely like it's nothing and I'm wondering at what point does this become weird for all of them? I guess Violet's Freddie complex makes her want to be a ho like Freddie too?

The author had a weird Beetlejuice thing going on where Violet would repeat thoughts three times, three times, three times. It became very annoying, annoying, annoying.
