Andy Serkis’s narration is probably one of the best audiobooks I will ever read. His voice acting of all the characters is so unique and it’s never difficult to discern who’s who.

Aside from his narration, the story was incredible. The last chapter gave me chills purely due to Sam’s inner struggle and ultimately his courageousness.

Brilliant book, can’t believe how much better the two towers is compared to the fellowship. Unreal second half of the book, stunning no notes.
Really exciting, brilliant storyline and amazing storytelling from Tolkein here!! So glad we moved on from the lads just wandering around x

I enjoyed the second in the trilogy much more than the first. I loved the second half with Frodo and Sam. Some beautiful descriptions of the land and lovely moments between the two characters. I also really enjoyed the section with Merry, Pippin and the Ents. Some great themes explored here including our disconnect with nature. The conversation between the Orcs in the tunnel was very interesting as we don't get a lot of the enemy perspective. Really looking forward to reading the final book.

Tolkien’s writing style can be difficult to follow because it’s so different from current popular writing styles but Andy Serkis’s narration brings this book to life in a whole new way. Even the long rambling passages about trees and family history become more interesting when he reads them aloud.
