Three of Lear's silly rhymes are illustrated. 'The New Vestments' is particularly funny.

It is no surprise to me why this illustrator won the Caldecott. The pictures are beautiful, amusing, and (to my husband) obscene. I can't help, though, but think that the three stories in here are celebrations or critiques of the class system and/or British colonialism. ...But that may be because I'm an English major in a personal renaissance. :-)

Includes Lear's title poem as well as two others (including the owl and the pussy cat). Illustrations are great.
