You’re right. I can’t be sure everything will be okay. But I can promise you I’m not giving up.

Oh, no. In all honesty, I wasn't expecting to cry this much. After all of what happened in the 3rd book, I thought it was the limit of bad things that could happen. I thought, like a fool, that we had already gone through the most tragic parts of the series.

Like I said, like a fool.

In The Tyrant's Tomb we deal with the aftermath of [b:The Burning Maze|28006096|The Burning Maze (The Trials of Apollo, #3)|Rick Riordan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1516363168l/28006096._SY75_.jpg|48012648], starting right off where it ended. We also deal with another kind of aftermath; the aftermath of abuse, the one we suffered and the one we inflicted, and learn how to live despite the pain that prevails. I think, this was the first step to recovery, and was done beautifully.

However, I cannot say I loved this book. Actually, I was struggling with giving it three or four stars. Finally, I gave it four because the last half of the book made me laugh every ten seconds and that is always my weak spot: if you make me laugh you certainly have my heart. There were also some of the most beautiful lines I have ever read from a Rick Riordan's book.

Come back to me at the end of that time. Then, if you still want me, I’m yours.

Now, here we were, at the wrong end of forever, neither of us in the right form to choose the other.

And this badass line with Diana:

“Foul undead thing,” she said, her voice hard and bright with power. “When a good woman puts you down, you had best stay down.”

The reason I didn't like it so much [as I usually love Rick Riordan's books] it's because the first half of the book felt slow and quite boring, the humor a little dry. Also, all of Reyna's arc felt a little off for me. Reyna was one of my favorite characters in HoO, and I just couldn't recognize her in The Tyrant's Tomb at all. Most of her dialogues, especially the ones relative to romance, felt quite of robotic. The point it was trying to do was good, great really, but the execution lacked some heart for me.

But after all, I decided to go with four stars, because even if those things made it less enjoyable they weren't definitely a big part of the book. Instead, we got some heartfelt scenes with Apollo, Meg, Hazel and Frank, and an interesting side-story with the introduction of Lavinia. There was a message of how the pain we caused can not be forgotten, sometimes not even forgiven, but that doesn't mean we are meant to be bad all of our lives. Despite all the pain we have inflicted, and all the pain that has been inflicted on us, we can still do good. That message, for me, deserves all the stars its four stars.

This is my only wish after finishing reading this book:

I hoped he would find a safe place to rest and heal.

I can't wait for the final book!

This was a good follow up to book 3 in the series. This is a very strong novel with plot points that definitely push you closer to the end, without rushing. Hazel, Frank, Reyna, and Thalia make great appearances in this book.

I loved this book so much!
All the characters had depth, the plot twists were unthinkable and overall it was a rollercoaster of emotions. I hope you love this book as much as I did :)
