I love this book so much! :) In fact, I’ve read this before multiple times and I always want to read it again. It makes me want to read Little Women, the book it was based on! :) Overall, it’s a great book for anyone to read, especially girls/young women, kids who have been adopted or lost a parent, kids who have parents in the army, lgbtq+ kids/people, and anybody else! :)
Moderate: Cancer, Racism, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Racism and Homophobia

I absolutely LOVED this retelling of Little Women. I love how this is a blended family where Jo's mom married Meg's father and then they had Beth and Amy. This is set in New York City which is a great place for it to be set. I love seeing how this book parallels with the original story. That instead of the father fighting in the Civil War he is over in the Middle East. And how they changed Jo and Meg's love lives and Beth's illness. Once I got started it was hard to put down.
Minor: Terminal illness, War, Injury/Injury detail, Chronic illness, and Racism

I loved the diversity in this adaptation that I imagine is lacking in the original story. I also loved seeing this unfamiliar story come alive through the illustrations.
My favorite character was 100% Jo — I literally texted Tessa “I LOVE JO” and then moments later “am -I- Jo???”
