Listen, I never cared for 'Little Women' in the first place (I quit in the same 10-page range both times I tried reading it), so me remotely liking this was a big step up for me.
The short biography of Louisa May Alcott at the end illuminated some of the changes made, and I think she would've approved; I had no idea her family was involved with the Underground Railroad, and I bet she would've been very happy to see that biracial families are both common and legal in 21st century America- and that her own story was adapted to make room for it. I'm sure if she were alive today she also would've appreciated the Jo LGBT+ plotline, too.
Beth's survival was also appreciated and made sense for a graphic novel adaptation - such a heavy topic would require a LOT more than a graphic novel can provide in such limited space.

It was good, but the classic was better.(obviously!)I really enjoyed how they showed that each sister had different challenges they were facing, and how they overcame them. Honestly, a pretty good modern retelling for teens/tweens that aren’t ready for the actual book. I probably would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I had read it when I was younger, but it’s okay! I found it recently and wanted to try it out because I had not really seen something like this before! I’m glad I tried it!
