What I Thought: Rebel is the sequel and final book in the Reboot duology. Wren and Callum has escaped with a hundred other Reboots and are headed to the Reservation, where they hope to continue their lives in peace. However the Reservation is not as they expect, and their leader Micah has plans even more devious than they realise. Wren and Callum get locked in a struggle, with reboot against human, reboot against reboot and human against human in the mission to shut HARC down for good.

I really loved Reboot, and Rebel was no different. Wren's actions and Callum's humanity kept me glued to the pages, wondering how they were going to solve each and every obstacle they faced. With other old characters back and new characters introduced, Rebel is a whirlwind from start to finish. Just when you think they may just run away and BAM. Not a chance buddy.

Amy Tintera comes back again with powerful writing and moving characters, leaving me wanting so much more. It was well ended, but it honestly left me feeling a bit unsure whether that was truly the end or not.
If you've read Reboot then make sure you grab a copy of Rebel, because you can't afford to miss out! And if you haven't read Reboot, then you best jump on our bandwagon!

The Good: Loved this one as much as the first, with as much action and romance, if not even more!

The Bad: While the story end was well written, I would love to have another book. It feels like the story ended too quickly!

From the end of Reboot, we were left with Wren and Callum leading all the Reboots from their facility into the Reboot reservation and that's where Rebel picks up from.

This book sort of had a 'Hunger Games' feel to it, which I liked. Wren reminded me a lot of Katniss in the way that Wren was seen as this sort of symbol of power, the Reboots saw Wren as 178, which is her number and one of the highest ever so most people see Wren as this power machine. It's also similar in the way that Micah, the leader of the Reboot reservation, wants to use Wren because of her number, and that's all he sees Wren as.

Wren of course, may come across as selfish when she declines in helping the humans from Micah and his Reboot army but I couldn't help but understand why she did that. She spent all her years in HARC, obeying orders and being this power machine because of her number, but she's finally got the chance to be free and to be her own person, away from her number. And she's fighting for her love Callum as well, she wants nothing more than to protect him.

I did read some summaries before I read this book saying that the romance got a bit more steamy, whilst I agree the romance between Wren and Callum continued to blossom, I did expect to read a sex scene between them, because Reboot spoke a lot about sex between Reboots in the HARC facility and the interactions between Wren and Callum led me to believe there would be a sex scene, however we were led up to the moment and then it cut, leaving it to our imaginations. I was a little bit disappointed about that but it still showed the passion between Wren and Callum.

I also thought that Micah's death was a little sudden and I had to re-read it because I was just like "wait..what?'

But still, I absolutely love this duology and very sad that it's over.

August 2019 4.5 Star Review

This was an amazing read. As it was my second time reading, I was trying to remember the story again as I first read this 3 years ago. I thought this lacked a bit from the first book, but it was still entertaining and engaging. The ending felt a bit rushed and I thought that the author could have had a better ending. I still thoroughly enjoyed the story and characters. I just thought Reboot was better. Overall, a fantastic read

February 2016 5 Star Review

I loved this book. I loved the alternating POVs between Callum and Wren. I got to see more into the minds of Callum and Wren. It was really cool, and interesting. The story picked up right where Reboot left off. I loved the action, and romance. It was fantastic. I liked Micah. He was a great and interesting character.

I just ship Callum and Wren because they have a bit of a Peeta and Katniss thing. This book was adventurous and shocking. The ending was incredible.
Spoiler I thought Callum was going to die.
. The ending was a bit rushed. I can't wait to see what Amy has in store for us next time. Overall, an amazing read.

This book ended exactly how I figured it would - there was some crazy parts unexpected but in the end it was predictable - I think perhaps it could have been summed up in one book instead of 2, still it was enjoyable.

This was a terrific follow-up, and I found it more entertaining than Reboot. I especially enjoyed having both Wren and Callum's POV. Overall, this was a solid YA/Dystopian and I'm glad to have finally experienced it.

If you'll recall, I rather liked Reboot, the first book in this series. It was one of those books that you have to suspend disbelief to enjoy, but it was a fun ride. When Rebel popped up on my recommendations in Audible, I was excited! Khristine Hvam narrates both of these, and she's one of my all time favorite narrators. I was definitely ready to drop back into a world filled with reboots. Ready to see what atrocities HARC would commit now. I guess I was just ready for some action.

Talking solely about the audio book aspect of this, the first miss for me was that there are two narrators this time around. Mike Chamberlain takes on the voice of Callum, our male protagnoist, and I wasn't a fan of him at all. His voice is flat. It never changes, despite switching characters or having certain emotional cues. He drove me crazy. Of course every other chapter it would switch to Wren's perspective, and therefore to Khristine Hvam's wonderful voice, and all was well with the world. I wish they would have left her as the sole narrator. I could have done without an actual male voice for Callum.

Where the first book blew me away with its action and originality, Rebel just felt like it was rehashing a lot of the same things. The big cliffhanger at the end of Reboot left you wondering where Wren and Callum would go next. We find that out right at the beginning of this book, and I was less than impressed. Micah was an okay villain. His plot to bring about devastation and change a decent plot tool. The problem was that I didn't feel like anything new was being done. The first book had daring escapes, shoot outs and secrets. This one just felt lackluster compared to that.

What I will say is that Amy Tintera does her readers a solid by answering any and all questions that might have been left lingering. Everything I wondered about came to fruition in this book. I couldn't help but smile as Wren and Callum were closer than ever, and Wren's emotions finally started to turn into something almost human. Do I feel like there was a bit too much romance here? No. It balances out nicely with everything else. Actually, I would have almost liked to see a little more action. I missed my kick-ass Wren. I really did.
