This book was interesting, not something I would have normally picked up myself, but it's definitely good to try new things and expose yourself to a variety of viewpoints. It was tough going at times, but not really for sheer tragedy, as I went in expecting. The protagonist is a bit of an asshole, which, to his credit, he does realize, although it's not something he does much to change. I really did not appreciate the way he thought about pretty much every woman he encountered, basically automatically characterizing them by attractiveness/how much he wanted to have sex with them, but I did appreciate the way he at least tries to be a good father to his daughter, something I think he does overall succeed at. The writing itself I did enjoy, and I did like seeing how everything kind of came together, in this one spot in front of the school. I'd probably give it a 3.5/5 stars if I could, but since Goodreads doesn't support that, it gets 3.
