wow, just wow. I want to say that it is all I've got to say but that doesn't do this book justice.

this is the first thriller/mystery book I've read. I've read 2 romance books before this to start my book journey. went to the bookstore to find a new one but there weren't any I wanted, say I just let my eyes float over the other books and it fell on this one. and thank the fucking lord it did.
I did not only bawl my eyes out at the mystery that unraveled, and thought that was insanely good. but the way Holly Jackson writes is even more mind blowing. Red (main character (+no spoilers!)) was the centere of the book. so we followed her but that wasn't that we just followed her, no we FOLLOWED her. it was so realistic.
in real live, when something big happens, something tense for example, you think about that but somehow you also have some stupid thoughts you shouldn't be thinking of at that moment. and you curse yourself for it, thinking you're selfish for not keeping your mind at what it should be at. Holly captured this PERFECT. never ever read anything like that and never thought I would (I know this is the third book I have read but still) it was too unique for words honestly.

READ IT.

Holly Jackson has quickly risen on the list of my favorite authors with the agggtm and now this. I love the way everything that’s been building up comes together at the end, even though there’s so much. Other authors struggle with plot twists when’s there’s more than a few in a row, but I think it was done wonderfully here. Even though it’s a standalone, I find myself wanting more of Red and Arthur’s story. Also great job making the most insufferable character I’ve ever read (on purpose I know), and keeping his, and the other characters’ flaws consistent throughout. All in all a wonderful read, although it seemed a bit drawn out at times. Great first book of the year!

This fucking book. Omg I loved it so much. Holly Jackson is an absolutely amazing author and every one of her books have been 5 stars.
From start to finish this book had me so stressed out. I loved the plot; the characters and the way the entire book took place within 8 hours (which I did manage to read it in). I liked that there was only one setting so it was really easy to imagine exactly how the whole thing looked.
Now for the plot twist. I had a tiny feeling it was going to be Arthur from about 1/4 way through. I just thought it was too good to be true that he was so nice (which I was actually kinda wrong about). To be fair, it’s hard to trust anyone in Holly’s books as we’ve learned from the past. I even suspected Red at one point. I absolutely hated Oliver so much. He deserved what he got after what he put Red, Maddy and everyone else through. The one thing I did not expect is for Maddy and Oliver’s mom to be part of the mafia and the one who murdered Red’s mom??? Omg plot. Twist.
Anyway, I am an Arthur apologist and I really believe he liked Red and wanted to protect her. The ending had me sobbing with the letter he wrote for her. For the sake of my own mental health, I’m choosing to believe that they reunited and fell in love and the mafia protected her.
What is it with Holly Jackson and leaving romantic cliff hangers?? (I miss you Ravi and Pip <\3)
