I feel as if this book could've been shortened in a few paragraphs, but it was still an interesting read to see what will be the motivation for the next generation in the workforce.

A book that makes you rethink about how we approach work (or life in general) as well as the do's and don'ts in creating and sustaining motivation. Love that the author supplemented the read with short summaries and a guide in the end to really drill in the key messages into the readers' heads.

This is one of those books that put the obvious quite elegantly, so the general population would feel compelled to fork out money to find out more about what they should already know - that intrinsic motivation beats extrinsic any day, and the challenge of managers today is to figure out how to harness the power of the former.

That said, I may sound a little more jaded because I saw Daniel Pink's book summarised on RSAnimate two years ago, and the 'Eureka!' moment has passed. I did enjoy reading 'Drive' (even if, as other reviewers have noted, I wish he could give examples other than those from entrepreneurial firms/ tech start-ups - how about tackling the civil service, huh?).

The 'cocktail party' summary at the end is pretty annoying though.

Pretty unsurprising. Once basic needs are covered, people are motivated by other things. Doh.

Drive is filled with incredible ideas and practical advice about how people are motivated and what groups and individuals can do to become, and stay, engaged in the workplace and beyond. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning more about how to truly motivate people.

Some of this was surprising, some not, but it did give me a lot to think about in terms of what motivates me, personally.
