I read this book for my English class, and I think that made my experience of it more enjoyable. I didn't enjoy how confined the narrative voice felt, as we rarely if ever get any information about what the other characters are doing or saying, aside from how the protagonist interacts with them. I also found the protagonist really unlikeable. She comes to hate her mother, even though there isn't all that much build-up between loving and hating her mother. She also comes to really dislike her friend Gwen, and in my opinion came across as quite stuck up, and it was hard to empathise with her. The first few pages were the strongest. It was very character driven.
