This is another gripping journey with Irene into an array of peculiar and intriguing alternate worlds. Irene is in a race against time to save Kai, her dragon assistant, and we are wondering who she can and cannot trust as she delves deeper into a chaotic world in search of him.

As with the previous instalment, [b:The Invisible Library|21416690|The Invisible Library (The Invisible Library, #1)|Genevieve Cogman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1416823893l/21416690._SY75_.jpg|40717845], this novel draws you in with a speedy pace and some humorous quips. We learn more about the worlds of the fae and the dragons, and whilst there are a few characters from the previous novel featuring in this one, for those who haven’t read the first book, this should not stop you enjoying the story.

This whole series is on my “to read” list and I cannot wait to start book three.

It was difficult to get through this book, I'm not going to lie. It takes a lot of brain power to understand what's going on, and that's why it took me longer than it should. With that said, there were more descriptions of places than anything and honestly I don't think a ton happened. Hopefully book 3 will be better but I'm losing hope in this 8-book series already...
