For an erotic focused historical romance, this was solid. Though the erotic portion was a bit cringy. As far as plot goes, not so solid. Overall mediocre but not awful. The ending was terribly rushed and could have used more closure.

I loved everything about this book. All of Gabriel's soft boy moments and of course the romance was amazing. Hoping Nicola does more books for Lilian's siblings *crosses fingers*

Wow this was a real surprise! Intensely spicy for a historical romance!! What a great surprise. I loved Gabriel’s character so much from the beginning. I just really felt for him and wanted him to be happy. His relationship with his valet, Hobbs, was so sweet.

I read a review that led me to believe this book would be right up my alley and I was right!! Gabriel is a scarred veteran. I love a less than perfect hero. After the heir and the spare die Gabriel inherits a title. He marries the woman he cousin was supposed to marry and...I'm stop there to prevent spoilers but it's great. There is a bit of kink which I love. Recommended.

Just loved this. Read first on KU, but then purchased a copy because I loved it so much. I enjoyed reading a full-length novel from this author. Hope there are more to come in the series!

I think it’s a sign of a good book when you get so into a scene that you actually gasp and shout out loud about something a character does or says.  That happened several times in this book, and one scene in particular toward the end had me shouting “That p---k!” when a minor character did and said some awful things.  It’s a good thing there were only cats around to hear me.

Anyway, this was an engaging story that had me rooting for the two MCs to overcome their individual issues and get it right with each other.  The progression of the relationship, with a couple of steps forward and a step back, etc, felt believable.  I felt their chemistry, and the love scenes were sizzling.

I enjoyed the attention to detail regarding the Battle of Bayonne, and I thought the author’s portrayal of the MMC’s experience with PTSD was very well done.
