This is probably one of the books I’ve found hardest rate because I have such mixed feelings about it. It is genuinely creepy and Kirsty/Lydia is a great character. I also enjoyed most of the writing and the audiobook narration-at least for Sarah’s POV chapters- was superb (Angus’s chapters not as much).
However, as other reviewers have stated Sarah and Angus are not likeable and it’s hard to feel anything for, or care about either of them. I was fine with Sarah at first but she just becomes accusatory and hypocritical and reading through her POV with all her paranoia and the conclusions she jumps to, especially after we learn bits of the truth from Angus’s POV becomes frustrating pretty quickly.
To end on a positive note, usually I’m not someone who likes unclear endings that doesn’t answer all the questions but I actually did here. It felt like it really fit with the atmosphere of the story. I am a bit confused as to what exactly was going on with Kirstie/Lydia during the storm but I don’t mind too much
