Avery never really had a chance to grow up. Orphaned at eighteen, a man came into her life and swooped her off her feet, and she was married within months. Then, she became a mother. It was shortly after this time that she realized what a monster she had tied herself to. She had no freedom, no access to money, no friends or family... just her daughter and her own determination. Particularly after seeing her daughter with a broken arm due to his abuse.

It was one cold night with her living in her car with her little one when she saw another car lose control and slide into the ditch. Worried that the owner would call for help and draw attention to her own car parked in an empty lot, she helps him out. The next day, when he sees her car still there, he realizes a bit of their predicament and offers her a job. This forever changes her life.

Poor Avery had become a shell of who she was. She flinched at fast movements, hadn't experienced many things in a long time (or some things at all), and had had so many restrictions on her life that she didn't realize what she was missing out on. It took Cass (Easton), Zack, and Ryker a while for her to open up to them, but they were all smitten with her and her daughter, Chloe, almost right off the bat. They each made each other's lives better, and they made the perfect family.

Not that it matters much, but I wish the resolution with her husband was explained a bit more. We get an ending, but not exactly a "how" or "what" went down to cause the end result. I'm just a curious type, though.

In the end, I like how the author really doesn't focus much on him. He's never named in the book. It's always HIM or HE. He even gets a single chapter from his POV, and it simply says "HIM" for the name. Abusers shouldn't get recognition. They aren't worth it. Unless it's to spread the word to warn others, they can simply fade away in the past while we focus on the victims, the survivors, and help them thrive. It's actually a brilliant way of writing this.

Great book! (Just be careful to read the trigger warnings if you have any!)

This is a solid, sweet sweet, standard contemporary romance, with the added benefit of being a why choose. This book wasn’t stressful, wasn’t deep but honestly sometimes I just want a sugary sweet romance with low stress. I would have maybe liked a little more depth to all the characters and I was bummed the only group “fun time” was close door 😭😂

To me a 3.5 means “pretty good book” and I would recommend it.

Please note: the men she meets are all delightful men and don’t do any of the abusive triggers warnings I’ve listed.

Unbreak Me was a rough journey. Be ready to cry, to swoon, and to rage!

With a young mom escaping her abu$iv3 husband and living in her car with their 5 year old: be ready to shed some tears while reading!

The men who take Avery and Chloe in each have their own rough pasts and current issues to overcome leading to an incredible story of growth and overcoming trauma.

Chloe was such a great highlight to this story too! She made an epic sidekick for her mom and the guys both!

Wow, I loved this book it follows Avery and her escape and survival from her abuser with a little bit of cash to protect her daughter. As someone who comes from a family of DV, this hits home as it deals with the aftermath and side effect of the situation which I can relate to so much. I also appreciate that the author didn’t give the abuser a voice in the book which when you read it you will understand what this means.

The three ex-military men Ryker, Easton and Zack were so patient with Avery and her daughter Chloe throughout the book. Chloe is such a cute, fun and loving character in this who doesn’t understand the extent of what Avery went through but rips your heart out when she comments on things that the abuser did.

I highly recommend this book. Just it didn’t hit the five-star mark for me but was so close. I felt the last 80 pages were a little rushed. Felt the spice scenes were quite similar and the why choose element took away the realism toward the end for me. But this was a fantastic book that I can relate to.

"You could never ruin anything, baby. We all want you. We all want more with you.” He rests his forehead against mine. “You’re fired. Now stay and be with us all. Be ours, baby. Be our girl.”

This book broke me in so many ways.
I was crying in every chapter, there was always something that got me.

The author wrote in detail about Avery's journey. It's not a perfect happy ending, but it was growth.
It wasn't forced just because she found love and her family to protect her, but it was herself.

Everyone gets a POV in the book, but it didn't feel like it was balanced out.
Especially the three male characters, Ryker's POV was more, and there was more chemistry and relationship built between him and Avery.
I wanted more of Zack; we didn't see much of him.
Cass, we do have his chapter, but it always feels rushed, and I wasn't focused on his storyline until the end, which felt rushed.

What was disappointing was the suspense of the read.
The suspense plotline was high in the beginning, but in the middle, it felt like we forgot all about it, only the casual mention of it here and there.
Then suddenly, the suspense happened towards the ending, and it was wrapped up within seconds.
I wish there were more action on that.

Overall, it's a cute, emotional read.
Adorable moments and the humour is GOLD.

“Gonna kiss your mommy, little bear. That means you’re both mine now.”
