I thoroughly enjoyed every page of this new series.
I was lucky enough to be sent a proof copy before initial publication so have taken my time over it and actually kind of enjoyed some of the spelling and grammar mistakes (just shows how we're all human!)
The main characters are likeable, from different backgrounds, but all have their own part to play in what i assume is going to be an epic battle for the throne. My favourite characters are probably Declan - can't wait to see what's in store for him, and Hava - she's just a bit of a badass really!
My only issue is that i have to wait for the next installation.
Well done Mr. Feist, you did good 😊.

"This is a very long first act, brother."

That it was indeed! 18 hours and 42 minutes on audio. 560 pages. I haven't been bored for even a single second, though, and am now anxiously awaiting the sequel. Is it 2020 yet???

I often complain about a book having nothing happen in them, and to be fair, nothing much happens in this one, but there is this underlying tension that makes you want to read on, and the world and story have been built and set up beautifully. We know the characters, we know what they're up to, and now we have to wait until 2020 to see how that'll go. The struggle is real, you guys.

I'm still torn on how to think of how women were treated in this book. There aren't many, and only one we truly get insight on, but it's all still minor compared to the main guys. On Coaltachin however, girls and boys are treated equally, and there seems to be an underlying respect towards women in general. It's just that Gwen and Millie are so very minor and only there for romance purposes and that even Hava gets reduced to just that in a way. Luckily she doesn't lose her badassness!

And Rosalee. Can't tell you how much I love Rosalee.
SpoilerRIP Rosalee. I cry.

Also a major shoutout to the narrator, as he did an absolute splendid job! I loved all the accents and voices!

This is a bit of an odd one. The story is interesting but it's slow. It wasn't hard to read, but it didn't drag me in. I don't think I'll be reading the follow up.

I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.

I'm not going to review this, since I didn't get very far. I found the character's language to feel rather Shakespearan. While I'll read Shakespeare himself, I don't relish the language, so I'm DNFing this one.

I have read a lot of Raymond E. Feist’s novels, but found they were losing their lustre for me and I lost interest in them. I got this on sale and, much to my surprise, I really liked it a lot. The new setting is fresh and interesting and I found myself quite engaged. Looking forward to the next book.

This book was absolutely amazing! I haven’t finished Feist’s first series but when I found out that he started a new one I had to read it. And I have to admit this is my favorite out of all of his books I have read so far, I cannot wait until the next one, this left me with so many unanswered questions!

Interesting book. It was well written, and the characters and setting were interesting, but it was most definitely the first in a series because many things were unresolved at the end.
