What a fascinating and engaging work. The introduction and forward are engaging and interesting and the structure of putting poems on the right page and notes on the left greatly aides the understanding.

"I declare
That later on,
Even in an age unlike our own,
Someone will remember who we are."

My only regret is that so much of Sappho's works were lost. I had heard her name and of her poetry, but I had not realised the impact she had had on poetry since her very existence, over 25 centuries ago. I've read translations, and I don't understand Ancint Greek, but I am certain it would be even more inspiring in its original tongue.

it is always so beautiful to read something so very very ancient, especially when the writer themselves mentions the immortality of art.

the translation notes were very explanatory and thus helpful. a lovely read!!!
