Schade, dass es nicht noch mehr Sherlock-Holmes-Kurzgeschichten gibt! Zum Glück hab ich noch ein paar Romane rund um ihn, die ich lesen kann.

By far the weakest collection of the series. It was my goal to read all of Sherlock Holmes last year (yep, fell short by 2 months), so I powered through it. The previous collections were formulaic, yet still managed to be entertaining; these were extra stale. The only exception was The Creeping Man, which was a horrible attempt at Science Fiction and probably should have never seen the light of day.

**2020**
I didn't enjoy this collection as much as the previous few, but the Creeping Man gave me actual chills and a few other were very good.

Illustrious Client - 4/5 - Less of a mystery, but interesting story
Blanched Soldier - 4/5 - I prefer Watson's narrations, but it was well told and a happy ending
Mazarin Stone - 4/5 - I also prefer when we see the whole mystery and not just the final bits
Three Gables - 5/5 - I love a lady who knows what she wants
Sussex Vampire - 5/5 - I liked this a lot
Three Garridebs - 4/5 - Pretty good mystery
Thor Bridge - 4/5 - Surprising ending
Creeping Man - 5/5 - Actually creepy and mad science-y
Lion’s Mane - 4/5 - Pretty good story
Vailed Lodger - 4/5 - I hate it when people lose their happy ending
Shoscombe Old Place - 5/5 - I feared a worse villain
Retired Colourman - 5/5 - Very enjoyable

This is the last book Doyle wrote about Sherlock Holmes and it shows. I found it lacking inspiration and boring at times, though the short length of the stories made it a very quick read. It's not a bad book, but really not what advertised - it said it contains some of the "most villainous and unusual characters", but I haven't found any trace of that. It's not a bad book, it's fun for a weekend read, but far from what I had expected.
