Sometimes characters simply refuse to cooperate. This book is delightful in all the best ways.

I'm a sucker for picture books that feature characters breaking the fourth way/realizing they're in a story and this one has some cute interactions between the panda who is the main character (or is he?) and the narrator who needs a problem for his/her story. Features adorable art.

I don't always like it when a book breaks the fourth wall. But this book does it pretty well. It gets just the right level of seriousness and absolute silliness. The writing is clever and the art doesn't get in the way. I do kind of like the Panda's okay no-problem life. I wasn't expecting what happened next. Very goofy but very good.

Love love love love this one! Panda had me literally laughing out loud in the library! I love picture books that break typical storytelling rules, but also teaches children the basics of storytelling! As you read the narrator tries to figure out what is Panda's problem is only to discover Panda doesn't have any! Then as Panda takes over his own story it spirals out of control! Such a great book that adults and kids will love to read together.

Yes to all of this. You just need this book.
Characters that break the 4th wall? Check. Narrators that talk to the character? Check. Story that will make you laugh out loud? Check. Book that you can use to work on fluency and expression? Check.
Yup. Go find this one.

This book would be mostly good for teaching story elements: problem. Otherwise, meh.
