Ok, I finally gave into the Harry Potter mania and am starting to wonder why. I don't see what was so great about this first book that made everyone go crazy. I think it was ok, I dont think it was anything amazing. I have been told that I need to keep reading and give it a chance, but was not that impressed with the first book.

2019: still obsessed

*Note that I do not support JKR and will not be giving any of my money to her in the future or promoting this series publicly. This series has always been everything to me and in school when I was about 8 I even chose to do my speech, the topic of which was a person we admired, on her. I am embarrassed of that now and I’m disgusted and distressed by the things she has said. I can’t imagine how those fans directly affected feel. I reread this book because I wanted to listen to an audiobook at work of a story I already knew well. I believed that I could separate the author from the work but I’m no longer sure. While I still love the story, I felt uncomfortable and I feel even more so knowing I logged it on here with my previous rating and comment. I assure you that I stand with you and find her words abhorrent.
