I enjoyed this. He’s a giant wanker most of the story, but I could definitely feel his regret when he was. This was super easy to read and I even got a little teary eyed in parts. It would have been a 5 star read if he wasn’t an asshole 95% of the book but it’s kind of the point I guess. It was very hard watching him be cruel to her for no reason when she was so nice.

GROVELING

This man was a complete asshole the entire 80-90% of this book and what do we get? a half assed letter saying that he admits he is a douchebag,an asshole,an idiot but that's just the way he has been for a long time and she should accept him anyhow as form of an apology???I think Violet deserverd far more.I think she forgave him wayyy too early and should have made him grovel more.

The only thing I liked about this book was how she handed his shit back to zeke about how he was a selfish asshole who only saw the struggles and hardships of himself and made people around him miserable.Tbh,I still didn't liked him at the end of this book.

2.5 / maybe 3 stars if I wait long enough ... argh. I don't know why this series isn't doing it for me.

It's light, funny, sweet (*too sweet* in this one at some point ^^) but I don't connect with the story nor the characters. It's going way to fast, some stuff are too enlightened and other deeper stuff less.

I would have loved to see more interactions with Kyle and the Big Brother community.

More talks between Oz and Zeke, deeper talks ...

I don't know I just really didn't enjoy Zeke and Violet story, don't know if I want to keep going with this series ... maybe book 3 will be the winner ^^

3.5/5. I can't believe I liked the book about Zeke more than the first book, it feels wrong.

Every living person has a soft spot for a bad person with a tragic back story -even if the story isn't that tragic. I totally loved seeing Zeke evolve to an actual human being even if it took him most of the book. I even felt he had a much better character arc compared to Oz.

I'm excited to read the next book but I hope the series don't go downward after this. (Please don't be about Gunderson. Please don't be about Gunderson. Please don't be about Gunderson.)

I wasn't too impressed with the first book in the How to Date a Douchebag series, The Studying Hours. So, I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed The Failing Hours. The writing is so much better and the chapter transitions so much more smoother. The plot also flowed for a coherent story and not chunky and episodic like in The Studying Hours.

I also like the characters in The Failing Hours more. Violet is the sweetest. At first glance she's seems like a spineless bleeding heart but she does have some fire in her and doesn't let Zeke walk all over her. As for Zeke, he was an asshole character that we met in The Studying Hours and I knew there was a reason why he was so angry all the time. We learn pretty quickly that his bark is worse than his bite. I liked Zeke a lot more than I did Oz because his character was more solid and I really liked his overall character arc in the book.

I've been told multiple times that this series does get better and better with each book. I can't wait to read the next one.
