There is more sex than storyline in this book - it's very disappointing.
It's like she continually trips and accidentally falls on an erect penis each time.
Don't get me wrong - I like good erotica as much as the next girl, but I prefer my "vaginal fantasy" novels to at least have a decent story. Otherwise I might as well just read back-issues of Scope, or watch bad 80s porn, complete with awful soundtrack.

This one is very slow for the Anita Blake series but lots of important things come about. Overall not a bad read but a must read if you’re wanting to stay with the series.

Still loving this series. I love how not only has Anita grown in her abilities and powers, she has also become more open minded and seems to be more accepting of her life and the people in it. There is never a dull moment between her and all her men.....

2.5 stars for the few chapters I enjoyed.

So mad at this story... Where is the plot going? Its been a lot of sex, some new powers, more sex, Anita accepting that being with Jean claude is changing her,Richard being a putz (which is not anything new) and Anita forgiving them both for it. I can't understand why she is so forgiving. She doesn't need Richard. He treats her like crap under his shoe 95 percent of the time!!!! I can't understand why she keeps taking his abuse, and forgetting about all the terrible things he has done and said to her the next minute. He charged into the Circus like a freaking psycho because she was doing Nathanial. He would have hurt all of them, just becuase he realized he was wrong (after out had been pointed out to him) is no reason to forgive it. He punished her for so long after he left her about what she was doing and who with. Her forgiving that is the same as saying she deserved it. There is a reason why doctors amputate severely infected limbs; if they don't, the infection will spread and kill you. Why do heroines allow themselves to be cut down by men in novels? This is the reason why I didn't finish the first novel in the Kitty Norville series. Anita did not start out as this punching bag in the first few novels. I loved them. So far, I've disliked much more of this novel than I liked. The scales are extremely unbalanced in the negative for this book. If the ending doesn't wrap up this story with its erratic confusing plot, I with not be continuing the rest of the series.
Update: The ending was flat. I might read Micah to see if it has a plot but if it doesn't then I doubt that I'll be continuing this series. It makes me sad to say that. I used to love this series...

The first 80% of this book was just Anita having sex with everything around her, and the last 20% was dealing with the murders that were introduced in the first chapter, but that hadn't been mentioned in between.

I’m not even putting up a small blurb of the book. Because Incubus Dreams is just pages and pages of mindless writing. There’s no conducting thread, no visible plot. Just endless and most of the time meaningless conversations mixed with sex scenes. The `murder story’ makes one or two brief appearances never be heard of again. It is also unfinished, meaning the case is never completely solved.
I actually thought Hamilton was picking the pace again, with Cerulean Sins. I mean, I didn’t expect the series to live on the same kind of plot forever (read: Anita hunting big bad vamps and werewolves), but Cerulean Sins was proof that the plot can evolve to something different, and still be interesting. The `new Anita Blake trend’ (read: the author focusing more on vampire politics, the ardeur and on Anita’s life) doesn’t really bother me. What bothers me is the fact that the books are loosing coherency and quality fast. Incubus Dreams is a thoroughly unworthy sequel.

"There comes a point where you just love someone. Not because they're good, or bad, or anything really. You just love them. It doesn't mean you'll be together forever. It doesn't mean you won't hurt each other. It just means you love them. Sometimes in spite of who they are, and sometimes because of who they are. And you know that they love you, sometimes because of who you are, and sometimes in spite of it." - Laurell K. Hamilton
Soooooo ... I read the twelfth book of a series first. I bought it thinking it would be a funny story. Well, I didn't laugh a lot. There was too much sex in it for it to be really funny. It was a weird story. I'm not sure I really liked it but it was a nice and fast read. It's more than 800 pages and still it wasn't something I needed to plow through.
It was pretty good and pretty awful at the times time. I planned not to read the entire series but I'm confused right about now. I think it will ruin it if I go 'back in time' although it would be nice to grasp completely how Anita got where she is right now.
So yeah. This was a weird book.

Hoo boy, I had trouble getting through this one. What was the plot? I think there was a mystery in there somewhere, amidst the sex, sex, sex. Not that I mind the sex, I usually enjoy Anita's naughty adventures, but I think Story was sacrificed for Dirty Bits.
