Delightful first instalment of the tale of a magical car, and that car is quite the character. Tenant’s narration was excellent.

I actually liked the movie better which is really rare because the book is almost always better. Maybe if I had read the book before I saw the movie...maybe...The story was completely different though. Their name is Pott, not Potts, but Pott. Also, Caratacus(?) has a wife?! I mean from the very beginning...no Truly...where did they get Truly anyway?! But of course, if there is no Truly then the candy company accepts Caratacus's offer about the candy. So there is no dancing and singing with Truly in the candy factory which made me super sad...because it's my favorite scene. Then, they figure out that Chitty can fly in a TRAFFIC jam....ugh....and then, Chitty floats away from an island and on to FRANCE....what? I did not like this as much as the movie yet I gave it 3 stars because I love the movie (:

This is a fun book with sooo much imagination. I was having a bad week but this brightened it up. There is something about a children's story and the ridiculous things that do happen.

I knew this story by the movie released in 1968 with Dick Van Dyke. I did not know it was based on a book until this year.

The book has some differences such as Mr. Potts is already married and there is no grandpa Potts. Otherwise the stories are very similar.

This is a fun short elementary grade novel. It is a very creative story that I throughly enjoy regardless of whether it is a book or movie. Andrew Sachs also brings such a bright life to the narration.
