I am SO EXCITED to see where this series goes in the future. Yes, it is very dark and sexy, but the world-building is also amazing detailed. Within a few pages, I felt myself wrapped up in this world and wanted to know more. The characters all seemed well flushed out, even if us (the reader) were not fully in on the details yet.

Pheir is powerful, dangerous, and determined. Without knowing her full story, you immediately know that she is not going down without a fight. Caius seems to be similarly unhinged like Pheir, which makes them butt heads immediately. Aren comes across as aloof but still in charge, and has a pretty dirty mouth. I'm obsessed with these characters and will probably re-read this again very soon.

This was super steamy and tuned into some interesting things I did not know about myself

Pheir hates them; she’s always hated them, clashing in every battle, finding each other on the field so they could dig their claws into each other.

This was 45 pages of one of the wildest reads, I've ever gone through. It was incredibly out of my comfort zone, but it was nicely written and successful in its purpose, which is establishing the foundations and the characters for the author's upcoming book Vicious Devotion.

The trope was enemies-with-benefits. And there was ...a lot of spice. The mcs truly detested each other. There was so much anger and hate oozing out of them along with revengeful attraction.

I feel like the main trope - monsters - can probably be uncomfortable for many readers. It certainly is intense, so check the tropes before diving in.

Did I like it? It was interesting.
Would I reread it? Uncertain.

Not my cup of tea.  Intro of a triad, soon to be 4, with violence and eventually hot visceral sexy times.
