This was so cute!!! I think my one thing is that the pacing felt really off—it took a while for the fake dating to begin and at a certain point everything started happening at once—which I think contributed to the characters who were not Nati and William feeling a little flat (Brenda was such a cool addition to the story in theory but in practice, she was kind of annoying, and Padma just did not feel like a presence in the story at all). I also just have to mention the moment that stuck with me the most
when William was coming out to Nati and she thought he was gay, and for a full 30 seconds I, a person who picked up this book because I knew there was a major bi character, and who was also wholeheartedly invested in William and Nati’s romance, was like…….”is he?” It was a funny moment for me but it also made me think a little more critically about my own internalized biphobia, especially as it applies to cisgender men. I think before reading this I would say that I was not someone who thinks that a man being bi is just a pit stop to him being gay, but following William’s coming out through Nati’s eyes made me realize that there are a LOT of more subconscious ideologies I need to sort through when thinking about bi men dating women.
Overall, great read, would recommend!
