after catching up and reading all the books in this series, this one is still my favorite. edin and hunter are my favorite.

hunter is such a loyal friend, loyal to a fault. loyal to his own detriment. and so so caring, but never willing to admit just how much of that is due to his emotions.

after his best friend, coworker, partner, his found family is kidnapped by some nasty looking little monsters, hunter doesn't hesitate to rush off and save him. but he's just one human, and as much as it pains him to admit it, he can't do everything himself. he's not strong enough to do everything himself.

so edin volunteers to help.

and edin is captivated by hunter right from the beginning. edin has always been an open book, kind and eager to help anyone he can, but there's something about hunter that keeps edin close despite how prickly the other guy is.

these two were great together. edin was patient and caring, understanding, always willing to help hunter. he was a gonner from day one. and hunter was so singularly focused on getting to charlie, helping him, finding some way to rescue his brother, that he barely noticed just how much he loved edin's company. how easy he was to talk to, how much he wanted to lean up against him and stay by his side and make sure edin never got hurt either.

plus, the wyn and danny cameo was great. well, maybe not so much of a cameo since they were pretty present the whole second half of the book, but it was great to revisit them regardless and see how much their relationship has changed with more time together.

i loved this one. it's my favorite of the series. hunter and edin are perfect for each other.
