We got to see the main characters from the first book and they were written so differently it was hard to believe that they were even the same ones. There was no similarities. The three characters that were the focus of this book remained dull and two-dimensional. Edin, I had hopes for. There were teases in the first book that made me genuinely believe they would be fleshed out better in this book. They were not.
I can suspend a lot of belief when I read fantasy but typically not about real world situations. The main characters has a prostetic leg and I wish that the author had done more research about the care and needs a person with a prostethis has.
More research and better editing would have done this book wonders. I know this is a series but I'm not certain that I can keep reading the books. I have very little hope of them getting any better.

This was the first book I decided to read with the pleasure of Kindle Unlimited. Second book of a series and I absolutely loved that it was a grumpy x sunshine romance. Edin is a giant purple teddy bear practically and wants to help anyone and everyone he can. Whereas Hunter is PTSD soldier who just wants to get his best friend back.
The level of character development on Hunter's part is inspiring and really sweet to read. The ending was the best in my opinion and I look forward to the next books - I wonder if Hunter's best friend, Charlie, will get a book of his own.
