This book is a new must read for me. I companion read this with As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh and it was an amazing experience. Reading these real life accounts created a much fuller narrative around the situation that was happening in As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow. This book deserves nothing less than 5 stars. Not only because it was a phenomenal book but because who am I to give a poor rating to these individuals’ stories.
From an attention standpoint the stories keep you engaged and are all very short and concise so you can pick up the book and easily put it down after a short read and comeback. This book provides you with stories from people of many different backgrounds and covers a wide range of topics around the war.
