I saw this at the library the other day, and picked it up to flip through it at lunch. Wow, I would have absolutely loved this one as a kid! I can imagine that any child interested in dinosaurs, paleontology, or even nature would probably be really fascinated with this short, colorful science book. Set up as a nature guide to various fauna of the Early Cretaceous, a once obscure period in geologic history that has recently become much better known, the book illustrates it as a time of great change, when the purely Mesozoic world was slowly evolving into a more familiar environment as flowering plants began to proliferate.

Vibrant, full page illustrations of a variety of awesome species not often seen in other books, like Yutyrannus, Amargasaurus, and Microraptor. Organized by type, including theropods, sauropods, ornithishians, and even a few species of pterosaurs and true birds, each entry includes relevant facts about the creatures (including "temperament," to give a heads up to any potential time travelers) and a size diagram comparing it to an average human. Cutting edge ideas in paleontology are represented here, as many theropod species are fully feathered. All in all, I still learned some new things, so I'd think that this would be a good read for kids and adults alike.
