I loved this book so much! The story is Scandinavian Noir, my favorite, and this author has added a touch of Scooby-Dooishness (if I may) to a dark and eerie mystery. I can tell you that murders are happening and a ghost may or not be the prime suspect in these killings. Great story, very engrossing and interesting, and I really like the main character Inspector Irene Huss as well. Loved it.

I enjoy these books and Irene and her co-workers. The first half of this book was slow, too much about the process and not enough movement on the plot. The second half was faster paced.

I found this one more predictable than the first book in the series. I don't know if that's her writing style or that cheating on your partner usually leads to trouble. IDK. It was still enjoyable.

2nd book in series. Good mystery. But will her one twin daughter always get in trouble with extreme groups?

It's the late 1990's in Sweden. Lowander Institute is a private hospital that has seen better days. The lights go out suddenly, a patient dies and the body of a nurse is found. She has been murdered, and one of the nurses is sure that she saw the ghost of a nurse who committed suicide 50 yrs before. This is a little dry by American standards. I'm not sure if it's the translation or just the fact that the Scandinavian style, until recently, has been more dry and matter-of-fact than American or British writing. Still, I really enjoyed this. Irene Huss is an appealing character. She is married to a professional chef whom she loves and has twin daughters, aged 15 in this book. She's also not much of a fashionista, and has the usual envy of women who are more beautiful and have the money for nice things. This is not the first of the series. I happened to read a review and decided to get it out of the library. There is an interesting interplay between the characters in the murder squad and the pathologist. In addition, we learn that the Swedes, like Americans, decided that mental hospitals were not a good idea. As a result, they now have homeless mentally ill people who have fallen between the cracks. I'll be reading more in this series. Yet another author to follow!!!!!

What a good book! I was a little hesitant to read a hospital-based murder mystery, but once I was a few chapters in, I was hooked! There were a few terms I was unfamiliar with, but Tursten was great at explaining what needed to be explained.
I didn't realize that this was the second book in a series, but there was little to no confusion while reading! Pretty believable characters, and a fantastic page-turning plot! I thought I had the murder mystery figured out halfway through the book, but I was wrong. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes mystery books!
