Light on emotions but very well-paced. It's not yet the type of Charles' writing that I really enjoy - the emotions don't quite work for me, and the attraction/sex is written in a way that I'm indifferent to - but the plot was relatively fun, and it helped me out of a reading slump.

In the first book Crane was like, "I can't wait to leave Piper and go back to London where everything is great." In A Case of Possession, they have been living in London for a few months, and surprise surprise, it is not perfect. They are together, which is good, but there are a lot of hurdles to overcome which is satisfying. There are a lot of new characters, only a few of whom had been mentioned in the first book. Like the first book, it is short (a novella and then a short story (A Case of Spirits), but I was astounded by how much plot fit into two hundred some pages. There is significantly more sex in this one than in book 1.

Good premise but I didn't realise I had accidentally started with the second book. Would need to read it in the correct order for a fair review

I loved the development of Stephen and Crane’s relationship. However, I didn’t like the mystery of this story much, especially compared to the previous one. Definitely reading the final book.

“But I think, if you had to define hell, you could take a good man and deny him the rites he believed in, and condemn his soul to a slow process of madness and vengeance and corruption until it was nothing but a mass of rage and hate and seething evil that his true self would have loathed. I think that would be hell.”

I continue to love the narrator, but I got a bit lost with this one. It was a little hard to follow and confusing with how many characters kept getting added.
