This was super enjoyable and I love this new world and cannot wait to see which couples the rest of the series follows. The book was predictable but that is to be somewhat expected with a paranormal romance standalone book. My main gripe with this book was the pacing. It was 500+ pages but I think some of that could have been trimmed to keep high action and high spice without lowering the quality

I think this is the best book by these authors that I have read to date!

Worldbuilding:
When several gates appeared on earth, the supernatural got outed, there was war, humans lost, and the world now belongs to the Houses. Very refreshing that a House wasn't 'only' vamps or shifters or withes or whatever, but it could well be a mix of everything. The Houses seem to have an uneasy truce, and as always, things can't stay that way forever.
This instalment was about House "Fire and Fluorite" and "Blood and Beryl". While we know a bit about the world, there is still much I am dying to discover in the following books! But for this instalment, we gradually had all the information fed to us, so no information dump at the worst possible time! All scenes and environments were clear and well detailed.

Character development:
Dannika (or Danni to her friends) has not had an easy life. A shifter that cannot shift. Luckily, she has Nova, her wolf that is always by her side (which, in my opinion, is way better!). Unfortunately, this meant that in the predominantly shifter House, she was bullied a lot. So when her fated mate ended up being the Alpha's son and the worst bully of them all, she rejects him, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand shit hits the fan.
Elias, the King of House Blood and Beryl, a vampire, was at the event when Danni refused her mate. He's intrigued by her and seems to end up everywhere she does. How strange...
All kidding aside, these two had a lot to overcome, communication issues being one of them, but you couldn't help but root for them from the get-go! They grew throughout the story, Danni finding herself and her place in the world and Elias finding the one thing he thought he never wanted.

Pacing and flow:
The authors took their time, lettings the story unfold as it wanted without getting lost in itself. Pacing and flow were excellent; the story grabbed you from the start, and while it did let you breathe once in a while, it didn't let go till the end. I read it in one sitting, and I regret nothing!! :D Great balance between all the action and conversation moving the story forward.

The book:
The book was well written with no (noticeable) errors. There is a lot of sex described (if that is important to you). I would rate it

Mates. They couldn’t call it what it really was. Losing the concept of free will when it came to finding someone you wanted to be with. What was the point of dating or any type of relationship when it didn’t matter what you wanted in the end?

wow this is like…a fucking perfect fated/rejected mates story. like absolutely perfect. plus it had the one bed and fake dating trope so you can’t really go wrong with that am i right? i’m almost upset that this is a standalone… i really like danni and elias as a couple and their chemistry:(
the world building was also great!! i’m curious to see how future books build upon it? not sure especially since there’s other authors so who knows how well or badly that’ll be tackled. either way great love story, it didn’t drag on at all despite the length.

I absolutely loved this first installment (but standalone!) book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues world! Elias and Danni are excellent main characters and I loved all the side characters! The storyline progressed quickly and there was no lag but also it was impossible to put down and I HAD to finish it!! And I love that it’s a standalone, so no cliffhanger!! A whole series of completed stories is so refreshing to me and I cannot wait for the next one to come out! Kel and Aurelia are an amazing writing duo and I can’t ever tell who wrote what or that there is even 2 authors. Eagerly looking forward to next month for book 2!!

WOW WOW WOW!!!

What an amazing start to a shared universe series!

Firstly I would like to thank the authors for this awesome book, it is thickkkk! I kept reading and reading and absolutely loved it. I have gotten so used to books that are like 200+ pages, but to get one over 500 is an absolute treat. We got to learn so much about the characters and we were also able to learn more of the world they are living in. It was the perfect first book.

i loved that the Female MC does things different and its not your usual fated mates scenario, that she has experienced trauma and hardship and that hasn't turned her bitter, but rather cautious/ wary. She stands up for herself and her family time and again even though there will be consequences.

There is so much to love in this book, I am so looking forward to the next book in the shared world.

Enjoyable

I liked this book a lot. The characters were interesting and multifaceted. The plot was straightforward but still kept me entertained. I am definitely reading the next book!

Reject Me is a fantastic way to start this series. Dannika is incredible FMC. When she meets her fated mate, she rejects him because he has done nothing but been a bully to her since she was a child. But since Markus doesn’t reject her back, they’re both on the run for their lives. Then Elias the Vampire king offer them safety for a price. The chemistry between Dannika and Elias is amazing from start to finish. To watch them fall for each other through everything and found their HEA couldn’t be a better beginning for this series.
