It was fine for what it was, a drama filled middle school book with lots of absurd fantasy.

I like this one because it had an eerier aspect with the Snow Queen.

I really love this series! This chilly story was a great book.

I’ve never read the tale of the Snow Queen, so this story was new to me. I’ve watched Frozen, but the fairytales that Abby and Jonah enter are the original tales, not the Disney versions. This story is a dark tale, so Abby and Jonah had to try to turn it into a happy ending.

There were some big surprises at the end of this story. Abby and Jonah’s secret of the mirror was almost discovered by their parents, but at the last minute their minds were wiped. Another important memory was altered as well, so I have no idea how it will play out in the rest of the series!

As always, I can’t wait to continue the rest of this series. It is a great collection of fairytale retellings.

The book club theme for February is fairytale retellings.
The first thought that came to mind was, Oh dear, I do not own any fairytale retelling books.
I didn't know what to do until yesterday. I was tidying up my bookshelves when I found an old Scholastic book I haven't read yet. It is obviously a retelling of the story of the Snow Queen, so I guess it'll do.
I loved the "Whatever After" series as a kid (oh well, I guess I'm still a kid but you know).
I still love it. A lot.
This story has an amazing message - friends are those who give you freedom to do whatever you want and that they will always be there for you. It is never too late to apologize to a friend you mistreated.
I can really relate to Abby. She gets jealous when other people hang out with her best friend, and I totally get that. Now I've learned to give my friends freedom instead of being over possessive.

Fun twist on The Snow Queen fairy tale, with a few references to Frozen. Cute story with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end!!
