An adorable manga for book lovers and librarians, it's fun to see the fantasy version of my job and the main character, Theo, is admirably dedicated to his love of books.

I’ve been finding some really good manga lately, and this one is one of the best so far! Unique world, great main character, touching and inspiring story, fantastic ode to books and stories, great artwork, and very emotional storytelling. I especially loved the overall message about how stories and knowledge are for all and how they move and inspire people. Looking forward to continuing with the series for sure!

10/5 stars -- I'm absolutely in love and hope the rest of the series is as good as volume 1.

This follows a young boy who navigates heartbreaking situations, experiencing prejudice because he's different from the other villagers.  In his world, reading and books in general are highly regarded. Books are seen as a form of knowledge and wisdom, and librarians are seen as noble caretakers of books. But the main character is so ostracized that he isn't initially allowed into the library.

He eventually forms a relationship with a mentor type of character who helps him, who is perhaps the only adult who sees his value and worth.

I can't get enough of the themes that are explored, particularly on the power of books as well as self-actualization.

I think this is my first manga ever and I don't know why it took me this long. I watched a review from Elliot Brooks on booktube and immediately checked this out from my library. I recommend checking her video out.
