I had the opportunity to take part in Letters from Watson, where the short stories of Sherlock Holmes were emailed out in (more or less) chronological order. Having read about half of them, this was a wonderful chance to revisit the stories. This collection was the beginning of the short stories I hadn't read before, and it was very interesting to read about an older Sherlock Holmes.

This was the only Sherlock Holmes book I hadn't read and unfortunately I didn't end my experience on a high, particularly because the first story is so racist. I ended up skipping that one but so many of these stories were really average. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Stephen Fry, while also reading along in my physical copy and even then I found myself losing interest in a few of the stories.
