My eight year old says this one deserves 50 stars. This was her second time reading it this school year and she giggled through the whole thing, so it was really fun to read it with her.

‘A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.’

I have loved this book for over 30 years and reading it with my five year old and hearing him belly laugh as The Twits are so monstrously awful to each other is brilliant.

Beneath the humour, there is a wonderful message in this book about the power of being kind and decent over being mean and bitter.

I read this with the kids at bedtime. I think they liked it more than I did.
