Verbosely written with eloquent words. Laugh out loud funny at parts, and sad with humanity's stupidity at others. Really enjoyed the satyr throughout! Makes you second guess authorities.

I just couldn’t finish this one... I got about half way and gave up. I never give up on books but this is an exception for how unenjoyable I found it. I totally understand that it is an important novel, and I think it does a good job of mixing elements of war with comedy. That said, I think I got the point it was trying to make without feeling like I needed to continue reading. It felt like the same thing over and over again. I’m sorry Joseph Heller, I’m sure you’re brilliant, I was just too disinterested. :(

The title of this book defines insanity. It could have been set anywhere but most appropriately during war time. Heller shows how easy it is to embrace insanity, that it can offer shelter and profit and become a way of life that denies life. Insanity is putting the false before the real, profit before life, power before people. The joy of this book is that it reveals all this and still maintains a devilish sense of humor and a marvelous narrative drive that compels you forward. An amazing book both frightening and hilarious.

if sun tzu wrote the art of war, heller wrote the shart of it
like a senile old man, it had it's moments however the joke got repetitive and stupid, much like war itself !

really enjoyable to sort of potter along with, having no idea what entirely is going on. I think I loved the ending? I feel like I need to watch a video essay to understand it all. I am very glad I read it
