I’m not sure how this reads for someone outside of health care and it may be better, but for me this felt like a money grab. As a nurse I do find it therapeutic at times of course to talk about my worst case stories with other nurses, but just compiling all of these stories in this manner during/post COVID seemed like shock and awe in a time when people may be looking for or intrigued by nursing stories.
At the same time, maybe that’s my jaded nurse-brain and COVID trauma not being able to enjoy the reflection that does happen in each story. Not sure, I found myself more anxious than inspired.
I will say, publishing nursing horror stories for the general public could be helpful in the sense that we could all use a little patience and compassion for what realistically goes on in a shift.
