I really wanted to like this book. The premise of the book and the found-family trope was what initially got my attention.
Sadly, I just don't think novellas are for me. One of my issues with the book was just how everything happened out of nowhere? I was in for the ride but I had no idea what was going on the entire time. I wish this was a novel because the readers could learn more about the world, the ongoing war and the history and details regarding the deity. I also was not a fan of the comedy throughout the book, I personally just think that comedy in novels isn't for me. If you are a fan of slapstick comedy, then you may enjoy this book a lot more than I did.
I also was just not a fan of the any of the characters. I didn't vibe with any of the characters personally and around the 100 page mark was when I started to read it just to finish the book.
Overall, it was alright. I think, however, that novellas are not for me.

Didn’t feel fully fleshed out but by the end I was absolutely drawn in. I enjoy Cho’s work a lot.
