I'm very confused by the death of Larabee. Since this story is supposedly before book one, it didn't make sense to me since we see Larabee in the books that come after this in the timeline. Maybe I'm missing something?

I really liked this prequel! I feel like more energy and thought went into this novella than many of the others, and it shows. It was fun seeing how Tempe got into forensic anthropology, through her first few cases that sparked her passion, even before she had her PhD.

Surprise! This was included in my hardcover copy of A Conspiracy of Bones.

Nice short read - funny to read about 80s technology.
