This is a very pleasing collection of short stories. I don't remember much about the book *Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell* but reading this set of short stories reminded me of all the elements of fantasy and fairy that I remember loving from that book. I really like Susan a Clarke's fairies. This collection also didn't have the dragging aspects I remember from the novel. I read it all in two or three days.

The titular story was my favorite, but I enjoyed all the stories. There was only one that I wouldn't read again.

I like that many stories had different flavors or behaviors of fairy. We got to see very evil fairy and fairy on par with average people.

I also liked the emphasis on women's magic in a few of these.  Embroidery as a form of magic was in two of the story which, as my friend pointed out, is not the stereotypical form of magic for women.

The stories of Mr. Simonelli and Tom Brightwind were my least favorite.
