A tad too dramatic, and the pacing of the relationship was wildly unbelievable. Not really my favorite.

The plot was interesting and so was the whole story.
It's just that the writing didn't resonate to me quite as true as the other Historical 'British' books I've read. Maybe it felt more American or modern to me, I can't be sure for I'm Asian. So feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...
The story starts with the words–London, 1815
Suddenly I'm taken back in my own time when I've read the word 'flat' stating her apartment. Well, I certainly never heard that before in 18th century-set books, not that I've read many, but you get what I mean. I find it easy to read, not very flowery, and wasn't structured in the usual British grammar. I'm very grateful for my very british text-to-speech app, and got through it.
Amongst other things, I'm giving this a 3-star because of my aversion to short-period romance. They fall in love in a week, in a situation and status far from reality.

this was actually really fun! I didn't get super into it until like halfway through, but then I was really invested in the characters and the story. The writing was also good. imo, Sarah Adams should definitely revisit historical at some point!! this was like tied for my favorite that I've read from her
