It was interresting to hear the backstory of the stolen name, and I can definately see why Minnie would had grown to ressent Quinn.. her mother definately did her wrong by constantly reminding her that « things wouldn’t be that way if you would’ve been a Quinn! ». On that note, all that negativity from her mother is probably the root of her birthday being jinxed.
It worked so great to have the novel going back-and-forth from current (2020) to prior years, where we draw the dots to be all the times Minnie & Quinn met before.. without knowing it was them! My favorite has to be NYE 2003 with Quinn’s POV

This book was very predictable, but listen, in a good way. It was actually talked about in the book, that the plot is what was meant to be, and the expectation of the characters is mixing with yours and somehow it’s wonderful and makes you feel like a part of the story. I read the book in Hebrew and Quinn’s name is spelled the same way as ‘Kevin’ so I was confused for a good while as to what is so special in ‘Kevin’ (no offense to all the Kevins out there) so to all the translators PLEASE USE PUNCTUATION MARKS. Anyways, usually romcoms translate horribly to Hebrew and somehow sound childish (translated banter can be so awkward) so a big A+ to Kineret Higgins-Davidi, your translation is incredible. Also, I know I’m reviewing the wrong edition here, I couldn’t find the edition I own but if I could just upload a picture and show you the cover! It’s so much better then all the covers I saw online for this book (I’ve done some research) so another A+ to The Green Man Studio - their cover has a penguin and fireworks and faceless cartoon Minne and Quinn and it’s BEAUTIFUL.
