The book is about gay men's experience in the Holocaust. When it comes to gay survivors, a lot of their experiences and history were silenced due to stigma and homophobia. Because of this, there is a whole element of the Holocaust that remains under-studied. Reading about Heger's experience taught me a lot about the everyday life in the concentration camps and what had to be done for survival. It was a difficult and emotional read, but I'm glad I got to read his story and learn about this part of history.

This is an essential, and well-written primary source for writing on the persecution of homosexuals in Nazi Germany. I'm currently researching this topic for an upcoming assignment, so if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

Excellent read into a deliberately ignored group of victims.
