I read this book at a bad time. With so much death in the world going on and reading this book I’ve really had to wonder about life and how soon it can end.

Tiger Tolliver didn’t have a good life. She was bullied, poor, and didn’t have a father. The things she did have going for her was a loving(although over protective) mother, a best friend named Cake, and a date with her crush.

This list of her goods was soon ripped up and spit out when her mom died and Kai, her crush, left her at the hospital. Tiger had to deal with every single unimaginable, terrible, soul hurting thing any person could endure. She lost her mother, she went into the foster system, she couldn’t eat, she had to meet her half sister she never knew about, she went to juvie, she still got bullied, she had no money, and she learned her mother kept secrets from her her whole life. If you don’t call that one fucked up shit show of a life, I don’t know what else you’d call it.

It was hard binging this book because you really have to take in what is happening. I couldn’t even imagine the pain Tiger was feeing, but Glasgow did a good job at conveying Tiger’s emotions. This book made me think about everything I believed in. Made me question human existence, the after life, and the plain old question... Why are we even here? My biggest issue as to why I gave it a 4 was the writing. I didn’t like the writing style that much, but the story itself made up for it.

This book made me feel emotions. Mainly anger. At everyone including main character. I’ve never experienced grief so I don’t think this book is really meant for me. It was well written. I would recommend this book. It just didn’t have me wanting to know what happens next.
