When people die, they become a collection of memories in The Archive called histories. Sometimes, those collections wake up and try to leave. That's where people like Mac come in. Mac is a keeper, and her job is to return awakened histories. When her family moves to an old hotel to start over from the grief of losing their youngest family member, Mac comes face to face in a mystery she may not be equipped to handle.
I really enjoyed the world building in this book. This was a fun read and I enjoyed the ride. I was mildly disappointed in some things that happened at the ending, but it wasn't because those things didn't feel earned. I just had a more intriguing idea of what was going on than what was really happening. My biggest complaint is that this falls prey to the common trope that a boy and girl MUST kiss or fall in love if in close proximity. No friends, no asexual or aromantic people. I hated that when I was a teen too.
